Feb. 8: For the love of arabic food!

It was just an impromptu.  We went here on a whim.  Stars Avenue Mall is a typical mall here in Jeddah.  Or so we thought.  But it turned  out there’s a lot more this mall has to offer. From designer bags, clothes, shoes and accessories,  a lot of fine dinings, fast food, cafes, can be found in every corner of the mall.   One restaurant located on the ground floor caught our attention.  Since it was jampacked, we picked this one among others, armed with the ideas of Goodies offering good arabic food.

We were not mistaken.  Goodies offered authentic local delicacies.  To be specific, good LEBANESE dishes.

Let me backtrack you first on how we ordered the food.  Upon entering the place, we were not given a table first but instead we were ushered to proceed to the other section of the restaurant.  The other section was full of booths and stalls and food. We were completely clueless on what to do since there was no menu given.  No need, said the usher since we have to choose our dishes by simply pointing it out.  Yes, the food were all laid out in the hot counters.

It was like a feast in our eyes.  We were  overwhelmed since all of them looked so enticing, delicious, yummy.

There was a lot to choose from and we had difficulty in deciding.  We wanted to taste them all.  Seafood, pasta, vegetables, rice, grilled or fried, but in the end, the carnivores in us won.  So yes to lamb and chicken.
Meanwhile, there were an array of products besides food that this resto was selling.  We made a little tour.  Take a quick look.

We placed our orders, and now we are ready to sit and eat.
Table 41 please.
We started out on arabic bread paired with hummous and babaganoush.

On the left side of the photo below is the hummous. A popular mediterranean food dip made from cooked and mashed chickpeas.  On the other hand, babaganoush is a Levantine apettizer, eggplant dip, mashed and mixed with various seasonings such as olives, tahini, garlic, etc.

This was good enough indeed for small hunger.  But we dont have that.  Paj and i are both big-eaters so then..for our main entree.

I asked the waiter what this dish was called but he just simply told me chicken and rice.  So here it is, chicken with rice paired with yogurt.

The other main entree which my friend Luv Paj chose was the meat with mashed potato and vegetables.  Lamb it was.

The servings were relatively large for the two of us only.  Full up to the necks, stomach bumps, that was how we described our sumptuous lunch.  Hence, we opted to wash the calories out by swinging by a coffee shop after we left Goodies.

We ended up at the Nestle Toll House.  This one, too, turned out to be rewarding.

Our simple dessert consisted of mini chocolate cookies matched with plain green tea, was really a total sweet treat for us.  A fitting end to satisfy our cravings.

Friends, i declare, today was officially one of those days.  A cheat day, indeed!  Happy tummies! 😀
