shadow lounge @ rawdah st., jeddah

the first time we entered the place, we were like, “wow! ang ganda! (so beautiful!)”.  i noticed the black and white motif, the chandeliers, the table arrangements.   immediately, i took some photos using my camera phone.  of the wall, the lightings, the seats, the cutleries, the view, the whole place itself.  i was so amazed with the ambience because it was relaxing and cozy at the same time, that i didn’t bother to look at the menu.  i just ordered what they ordered.  actually, the four of us ordered the same thing, TAPSILOG, a famous breakfast dish for the filipinos.  oh! not just famous but a favorite one.

TAP=tapa (marinated beef), SI=sinangag (fried rice), and LOG=itlog (fried egg).

Isn’t that beautiful?! the presentation and the mixture of color made the dish more attractive and delicious to look at, a feast to the eye!  well, as for the taste, it was good, but definitely, not the best tapa ive ever tasted.  but hey, for only 25 saudi riyal, you get those plus a glass of orange juice and a cup of tea after meal.  you get to bond with friends in cool place like this, here in jeddah, so its a good catch after all.  🙂

lunch-out in the kingdom

Who would have thought that after long duty hours today, since two in the morning to be exact, we’ll still have the energy to go out and look for some place to eat here in the kingdom of saudi arabia, specifically al khobar, on a friday at 2 in the hot but windy afternoon?!  What drove us? hmm.. aircraft food was not appealing anymore, (very!)high price from the room service of the hotel and well,  most importantly, since we enjoyed the company of our crew, why not end the day with a sumptuous lunch out.

And here we are…  welcome to VENECIA MALL, beside coral international hotel.  Sorry , as i was so hungry going there, i forgot to take a picture of the front entrance.  My mind was focused on what to order and what to eat and thoughts about the mall being open already, at this time, since here in the kingdom, the mall hours usually starts at five in the afternoon.  Luckily, the restaurants in the food court were open.  KFC was the only choice i had, for familiarity and particular taste purposes.  Im scared of trying out other dishes ( so sad and chicken of me!! ).  Again, we didn’t think of taking pictures of the food since we were all hungry to the bones and we devoured them with all our might. (haha! that was how much hungry we were!)

Anyway, when we finished, and got back to our normal thinking frequency, after our binge-eating escapade,  i had the decency to take our group pictures plus the view from where we were seated plus the still empty mall areas.

mmexport1385126756301no mall-rats yet, too early for them, i think.

i know, this is not something extraordinary for some of you, but for me, it was an amazing experience.  We really had fun talking and laughing, teasing each other and laughing some more, and loudly may i add.  Before we started the flight we were just colleagues, now i gained three friends more. In a place like saudi arabia, this is something.   It was the time spent together, as plain as it was, that matters! SIMPLE JOYS, luv, simple joys!
